Safer recruitment
Identity, right-to-work, references and appropriate DBS checks form part of our recruitment process. Suitability is considered before anyone works with a client.
Safety and safeguarding
We want every client to feel respected, listened to and safe. Safeguarding, boundaries and accountable working shape how we deliver companionship.
Our commitment
Lumejej Companions works to recognise, prevent and respond to concerns about abuse, neglect, exploitation or unsafe practice.
We listen calmly, take concerns seriously and act in a way that is proportionate to the situation and the person’s immediate safety.
Identity, right-to-work, references and appropriate DBS checks form part of our recruitment process. Suitability is considered before anyone works with a client.
Companions receive guidance on recognising possible abuse or neglect, responding to disclosures and reporting concerns without delay.
We set professional boundaries around relationships, communication, gifts, money, social media and private arrangements.
Relevant safety information, agreed contacts and practical risks are considered before companionship begins and reviewed when circumstances change.
Personal information and safeguarding records are handled carefully, shared only when necessary and kept in line with data-protection requirements.
Clients and families can raise a concern or complaint. We take concerns seriously, record them and respond through the appropriate process.
When a concern is raised
We listen without making promises we cannot keep and consider whether anyone is in immediate danger.
The concern is reported to the Safeguarding Lead and recorded clearly, accurately and securely.
Information may be shared with emergency services, the local authority safeguarding team or another appropriate body when needed to protect someone.
Professional boundaries
Companions must not create relationships or arrangements that could cause dependency, exploitation or confusion.
Shopping companionship
When providing shopping companionship, the client keeps control of their money, payment cards and PIN. Any agreed practical support follows clear boundaries and is documented appropriately.
Call 999 first. Lumejej Companions is not an emergency or crisis service.
